Liberal Democrats set to make 2007 a breakthrough year in Edinburgh North & Leith

2007 looks set to be a major breakthrough year for the Liberal Democrats in Edinburgh North & Leith.
The last time voters went to the polls in Edinburgh North & Leith, the Liberal Democrats came a close second to Labour. The Tories finished a distant third with the SNP coming in a dismal fourth. The Greens barely held their deposit.
However, this year, the Liberal Democrats look set to win in May in both the council and Scottish Parliament elections.
Edinburgh North & Leith looks set to be one of the closest results in the Scottish Parliament elections, with only a handful of votes expected to decide the outcome. Well known Lib Dem and former policeman, Mike Crockart who pushed Labour close last time is standing once more and is widely tipped to go one better and become our new local MSP.
Residents will also have the chance to vote in the local council elections. This vote will use a new fairer system, where voters will rank candidates in order of preference. Liberal Democrats have a chance of winning in every area of Edinburgh North & Leith and have selected a strong team of candidates.
