Scottish Liberal Democrat Leader Nicol Stephen joined parliamentary candidate Mike Crockart and Forth council candidate Elaine Morris to visit Pilton Community Health Project.

During the visit, Nicol spoke with staff and was shown some of the facilities.

He said, "Improving public health and wellbeing is crucial to improving quality of life. For a country often burdened with the tag of the 'sick man of Europe', that's a major challenge. If we fail to recognise that the environment in which people live, work, study and play has a real impact on their health and wellbeing then we will quite simply fail to improve the health of our nation. As well as doing everything we can to prevent ill health, I want to see excellent health care services in communities across Scotland with new health centres and faster diagnosis. That is why I was so pleased to be able to visit this excellent health facility in Pilton."

This is the third visit by Nicol Stephen to the key marginal constituency of Edinburgh North & Leith since the beginning of the campaign. The national Liberal Democrat campaign was launched from Calton Hill in the constituency.

Mike Crockart added, "It is great to have Nicol's support for our local campaign. He knows that Edinburgh North & Leith is a straight two horse race between myself and the Labour candidate. With more and more people switching from Labour and switched off by the SNP, its the Liberal Democrats that local people are turning to as the real positive alternative."
