Liberal Democrats candidates come together to launch their council manifesto - "A Bright Future for Edinburgh"

Liberal Democrats today launched their council manifesto, promising a cleaner, greener, safer Edinburgh. Liberal Democrats have a real chance of replacing Labour as the largest party on Edinburgh City Council after the May 3rd elections.

For two decades Labour has failed to listen to the people of Edinburgh. That must change.

The Liberal Democrats are currently the second largest party on the council. Liberal Democrats want a safer, greener, cleaner, stronger capital city, where flexible, high quality services will be delivered by a responsive, caring and efficient Council.

A Liberal Democrat-led City Council would:-

  • Recycle 75% of domestic waste by 2020

  • Provide more support for carers

  • Invest in facilities for young people

  • Seek national funding to restore the King's Theatre.

  • Rebuild the Commonwealth Pool

  • Invest in buses, trams, trains and park-and-ride sites to get more cars off the road

  • Invest more to keep our local streets clean

The Liberal Democrats have a strong team of council candidates in Edinburgh North & Leith. Working together, they will ensure Edinburgh City Council is a listening, caring, responsive council for people in the north of Edinburgh,
