It's a question of honesty - Don't be fooled by Labour's misleading leaflets

Local residents have been appalled by a misleading leaflet delivered by Labour candidates in the local area.

The leaflet says Liberal Democrat councillors voted against 36 new police officers for North Edinburgh.

However, the alternative council budget proposed by Liberal Democrat councillors did contain funding for those 36 extra police officers.

Liberal Democrat candidate and former policeman Mike Crockart said, "It seems as though Labour has nothing positive to offer people. Worse still, they put out misleading leaflets attacking the Liberal Democrats, who have clear costed proposals to help tackle crime.

"Nationally, the Liberal Democrats want to see 1,000 more community police officers and tougher community sentences to help tackle reoffending.

"As a former policeman, who understands the misery that crime and anti social behaviour can cause, I will work to make tackling crime a top priority if elected on May 3rd."

This is not the first time Labour have come in for criticism for their leaflets. Labour has been threatened with legal action in other parts of Edinburgh because of the content of their campaign literature.
