Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate Kevin Lang has promised to step up his 'listening tour' of Edinburgh North & Leith as a new opinion poll suggests support for Labour has fallen to an all time low.

An ICM poll found Labour's support nationally has slumped to 26%, the lowest level of support ever recorded for the Labour Party by ICM. The swing would be enough to see the Lib Dems defeat Labour in Edinburgh North & Leith.

Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate and local resident, Kevin Lang has been touring Edinburgh North & Leith on a 'listening tour', speaking with local people about their concerns.

Kevin said, "Over the last few months, I have had the pleasure of speaking to literally thousands of residents across Edinburgh North and Leith. Many people have told me how impressed they are that a local candidate has been taking the time to ask them what they think.

"From the people I have spoken to, it is clear that more and more are feeling let down by the Labour Government nationally and let down by our local Labour MP, who as a junior member of the Government, has been one of Gordon Brown's most loyal supporters.

"I know that people are concerned about the rising cost of living, worried about the possible closure of their local post offices and fearful of going out at night because of crime. People are looking for a positive alternative to Labour and with the Tories in third place and the SNP in an even worse fourth, people are turning to the Liberal Democrats as the only party that can beat Labour in Edinburgh North & Leith.

"With Labour sliding in the polls, the General Election now looks like two years away. I am looking forward to using that time to meet with even more local people as I continue my listening tour of Edinburgh North and Leith."
