Leith Walk councillor Louise Lang and Westminster candidate Kevin Lang knock on the 10,000th door in Boat Green.

Kevin Lang and the Liberal Democrats have stepped up their 'listening tour' of Edinburgh North & Leith after knocking on over 10,000 doors across the constituency.

The 10.000th door was knocked on in Boat Green, Broughton by Westminster candidate Kevin Lang and local LibDem councillor Louise Lang.

Kevin said, "When I was selected as the Liberal Democrat candidate for Edinburgh North & Leith, I was determined to meet as people local people as possible, to listen to their concerns and to take action in response.

"We've now knocked on over 10,000 doors from Pilton to Pilrig and from Newhaven to the New Town. No other political party in Edinburgh North & Leith is making such an effort to speak with residents face to face.

"We know there is real concern over Labour's handling of the economy. There is also worry about crime and anti-social behaviour and a determination that people should be helped more to do their bit for the environment.

"With Labour plummeting in the polls and with Gordon Brown now likely to wait until the last possible minute to call an election, I'm looking forward to meeting even more local people over the coming months and to continue our listening tour right across Edinburgh North & Leith."

Councillor Louise Lang, who helped knock on the 10,000th door added -

"People have certainly appreciated the effort we are making to listen to their views. More and more are switching away from Labour, frustrated with a party that has taken them and their votes for granted. They are looking for a positive alternative and know the Liberal Democrats delivering real positive change on Edinburgh City Council after years of Labour neglect."
