Renewable Energy is the Answer - Not Nuclear!
Nuclear power is not the answer to Scotland's future energy needs, according to the Liberal Democrats. The UK Labour Government recently published its Energy Review, which keeps the door open for a new generation of nuclear power stations. "Scotland has an opportunity to be a global renewables powerhouse. The one thing which would squander this opportunity would be to divert investment into building expensive new nuclear power stations." Liberal Democrats believe the answer to Scotland's future energy needs lie in renewable energy. An exciting field of renewables technology is proven, reliable and emerging. Opinion polls show that people favour tidal, wave and wind energy far more than nuclear, coal and gas. Lib Dem Westminster Spokesperson, Kevin Lang said, "These technologies have enormous potential for Scotland's energy supply. By using more renewables, cutting energy demand and making fossil fuel power cleaner, we can provide Scotland with a sustainable supply of energy. "Nuclear power is not the answer to Scotland's future energy needs. Scotland can be the renewables powerhouse of Europe and we will only make that a reality in a nuclear free Scotland." uclear power is not the answer to Scotland's future energy needs, according to the Liberal Democrats.
